The Anastasia Project

The Anastasia Project is an ongoing photographic work begun in 2003. Every October, Anastasia returns for a new portrait, made according to the same restrained visual protocol. Because the setting remains almost unchanged, time becomes the project’s principal author, revealing subtle physical and emotional transformations as she moves from childhood into adulthood. Each photograph functions as an individual document, but the work acquires its full meaning through the accumulation of images and the invisible intervals between them. Built through repetition, commitment and collaboration, the series is at once a photographic archive, a study of identity and a long-term performance enacted by photographer and subject.
