On Film
I began photographing in 1992 and worked exclusively with film until my transition to digital, between 2004 and 2006. I never left film behind. I still carry a film camera with me, often making photographs on film alongside my digital work, and I develop all my films myself, in-house. Nostalgia is part of my attachment to film, but the process is equally important. For me, film is not simply a medium or an aesthetic choice. It is a discipline: slower, more restrictive, more demanding, and less forgiving. It asks for a different kind of attention, makes every exposure more deliberate, and ultimately changes the photographer’s relationship with the act of seeing. The photographs gathered here move freely between commissioned portraits, fashion, travel, and everyday observation. Rather than belonging to a single project or genre, they form an ongoing visual diary, connected by the same process and way of looking.
